Description
Lighting is the key to successful presentation of all art formats. It creates balance, contrast, color saturation, vibrancy, depth, reflection, and many other fundamental artistic effects, needed to tell the story on a two dimensional surface. In this case, a holographic surface with no apparent pleasing photo or artistic qualities, was instantly changed with the introduction of quartz lighting at various angles. A slight angular change of only one degree presents a completely different result.
Holograms have been present for many decades, but most will recall the popularity of this technique when published in the National Geographic magazine in the late 50's. The effect is used today to validate such things as money, software and other official documents... but mostly used to decorate the world of party decorations and gift sacks.
It appears here, that there are hundreds of tiny colored lights, connected in an array to produce the angular patterns... but, this is actually ink that is layered on to a 2D surface to give the illusion of depth and brilliance, when exposed to light.. Experiment and have some fun with this simple technique..
