Celebrating St Paddys Day and all Things Irish

It's March, and spring is showing signs of warming things up a bit in Texas. But my heart and my thoughts are in Ireland, for March is the month for all things Irish!

Ireland is truly an Emerald Isle, a land of divine beauty and a thousand shades of green. But the real beauty of this little island is in it's warm and charming people. They have faced hardships and troubles for centuries, but they remain the most friendly and loving folks we've ever met. They seem to recognize the things that really matter - like family, faith, community and loyalty. They are a spiritual people, in a land full of thin places where it seems the spiritual realm often intersects with reality. They are a welcoming community, opening both their hearts and their homes with unbelievable hospitality. Their celebrations are frequent and full of craic (their word for fun, fellowship and conversation). And last, but certainly not least, the Irish are a people with hearts full of music. The hills are alive with the sound! From the street buskers, to the pubs, to the big stage - they really know how to play a tune and spin some lyrics. Whether it's born or bred, there is music in the Irish soul.

So celebrate St. Patricks Day as the locals do, with passion and abandon. And if you ever get the opportunity to cross the pond to that Emerald Isle, don't think twice!
Slainte!
