Description
A walk down dozens of steep slippery steps in cold, gale force winds was well worth it when we discovered this incredible sea cave! This secret passage lies just below the awe-inspiring Dunluce Castle in Northern Ireland. Dunluce Castle sits dramatically atop a headland that plunges straight down to the sea along the North Antrim coast. It was the scene of many battles, and began crumbling into the sea on a stormy night in 1639. It was then destroyed by fire in 1641 and abandoned shortly afterwards. The coastline is also the site of an historic shipwreck.
The incredible sea cliff and the mighty Dunluce Castle are also thought to be the possible inspiration for Cair Paravel in C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia.

Yes, James, this cave is just below the castle, down a steep embankment to the sea.

Absolutely mesmerizing capture Charlie! I can image the sound of the crashing sea and the echo it must make in the cavern. Well done! v/f

Charlie, Fantastic shot love the idea of looking out from the inside, excellent clarity in this photo and wonderful details in the rushing of the water and the white caps outside the cave. Great perspective of this area from a different angle. Excellent shot, fav, voted, google and tweet promoted for CFC 3 link promo thread
