Description
Tenor and his companion Contralto greet you at the fairgrounds. At the State Fair of Texas, this grand statue towers once again over the waters of the esplanade - what a grand view! Tenor was created for the Centennial Exposition by Lawrence Tenney Stevens in 1936 . The nude was made of aluminum and probably melted down during World War II to help with war efforts.
David Newton recently re-created the statues as part of bringing back some of the missing history of Fair Park. Their installation was complete in late 2009.
