Description
If you are a sports fan, you will know that the Green Monster is the most well-known part of Fenway Park, home to the Boston Red Sox baseball team. If you are wondering what "green" and "monster" have to do with this image, here goes: The Green Monster is the nickname for the thirty-seven foot, two-inch (11.33 m) high left field wall at Fenway Park. Built in 1912, it was painted Green in 1947. The wall is only 310–315 feet from home plate, and is a popular target for right-handed hitters. To compensate for the short distance, it was built to stand very tall. It is the highest wall among current major league baseball fields. The Green Monster is famous for preventing home runs that would clear the walls of other ballparks.
Fenway is a legend in baseball history for many reasons, but none more popular than the "Green Monster".
