The actual bridge from the movie, The Quiet Man, a 1952 Irish American romantic comedy film starring John Wayne and Maureen Ohara. Wayne brought his four children along on location, they even played small parts in the film. Often called "the bridge in the middle of nowhere", it is located 5 miles from Oughterard in County Galway. It is known locally as Leam Bridgeand is in a condition almost identical to 1951.
This is the bridge in the opening scenes of the movie where Sean Thornton dreams of his youth and hears his dead mother's voice describing White O'Morn cottage. The Quiet Man has been called one of the top 100 movies ever made. Wayne took his 4 children here on location and they even played small roles in the film.
