Description
This pigeon may seem to have found a common nesting place, but this stone wall is actually in the outer walls of the mighty Rock of Cashel, in Tipperary, Ireland.
The Rock of Cashel is an assuming presence, rising it's rocky fortress high above it's lovely surroundings. It was the ancient seat of the kings of Munster for hundreds of years prior to the Norman invasion. In 1101, the King of Munster gave this fortress to the Church. Today, the historic ruins comprise one of the most remarkable collections of Celtic art and medieval architecture to be found anywhere in Europe. The majority of buildings on the current site are from the 12th and 13th centuries, but a few remnants and artifacts from the early structures can be seen.
